First Sunday Feast lecture in a long while…

We held a special Yajña at the temple today during the Sunday Feast program. It was arranged by Cāru Caitanya Prabhu for those who participated in the Dāmodara Program during the month of Kārttika . At various devotee’s houses throughout the month there were up to four programs being held each evening, especially on the weekends, in which Yaśodā and Dāmodara were worshipped in traditional fashion; a short kīrtana, followed by a discourse on the importance and significance of Kārttika, then an offering of candles accompanied by the recitation of the Dāmodarāṣṭakam. Prasādam was served afterwards. Many of the hosts were entertaining a devotional gathering for the first time.

In the Sunday Feast lecture I spoke on the significance of Kārttika and the Dāmodara Līlā and how one can conquer the unconquerable. We discussed the lesson learnt from Nārada cursing the two sons of Kuvera to stand as trees in the courtyard of Nanda Maharaja till Kṛṣṇa liberated them. I concluded by underlining the significance of book distribution and how Kṛṣṇa is pleased when one introduces others to their relationship with Him. The gift of transcendental knowledge is a matchless gift and makes one dear to Kṛṣṇa.
