Testing Open Live Writer

This may be a bit wonky because my system is running low on ram.

Open Live Writer is a bit clunky. It is taking a lot longer to open and draw the screen which may not be its fault. I’ve got a lot of apps going at the moment. For the moment it is now uninstalled. Net Writer does it all and much more in a smooth and fluid interface.

We are now in Australia…

We are now in Australia and I am very glad to report to you that everything is going extremely well here, and I am much satisfied with the progress being made in western countries like Australia. Now in India you must develop things also very nicely, especially for attracting overseas visitors to come there and enjoy Indian special atmosphere of spiritual life. Our Indian boys and girls are not very much interested to become devotees, but I am seeing that these fair-skinned Americans and Europeans are like angels by coming to Krishna Consciousness increasingly more and more, and that very soon the whole world will become filled with such angels, and so I am very optimistic that if we continue in this way by sticking very tightly to our pure standards that the Lord Caitanya’s prediction will very soon be realized all over the world.

Testing Net Writer

Last time I tried this blog posting tool I couldn’t get it to connect to my WordPress blog.

We are thinking of moving all our webpages to WordPress. Being able to write for them in one app is a real advantage. Writing regularly is the hard part.

Having a marketing strategy frames it all. Not as easy as it sounds!

Health Scare

Few Clouds, 11°C

Acintya Rūpa had a bit of a health scare yesterday, with severe chest pain adjacent to her heart. On the advice of her doctor she went to the Alfred Hospital Emergency Unit to have it checked. The service and facilities are first class. It’s changed very much for the better since I was there over a decade ago. She was very well received and looked after.
One of the friendly team delivered her evening meal. She mentioned she was a vegetarian. He told her that he also was vegetarian. He arranged a vegetarian option for her. As it turned out the orderly regularly eats at Crossways and Gopal’s when he can afford it. He’s visited the temple as well. Unfortunately he had his brand new $300 shoes stolen. Yet, when he saw me leaving the short stay unit, he chanted, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, loudly and enthusiastically enough so that everyone nearby looked up to see what was going on. There are devotees everywhere.

Here’s something I found today.

Actually, every Indian is Kṛṣṇa conscious. Sometimes they ask me in foreign countries that “How many Kṛṣṇa conscious people are there in India?” And cent percent, all, even Muhammadans, what to speak of the Hindus. Bhagavad-gita Bombay March 30, 1974

Bhakti in the blood!

I’ve always had the idea that Prabhupāda said, somewhere, that Indians have bhakti in their blood.

I found the reference today in a lecture.

bhārata-bhūmite manuṣya-janma haila yāra
janma sārthaka kari’ kara para-upakāra

[Cc. Ādi 9.41]

This is service. Especially it is ordered to the Indians, the inhabitants of the Bhārata-varṣa. Because in Bhārata-varṣa it is easier to become Kṛṣṇa conscious. Because by nature, because they have taken birth in this land of Bhārata-varṣa, in the blood there is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Bhagavad-gita Bombay March 30, 1974

Sound Proofing

We’re adding cladding to the temple room emergency exit to contain the early morning noise of the conch and kirtana which is being heard by a few of our neighbours, especially in the summer months. Next step is the painting and refitting of the handle and locks. If the door is used as an exit this work is good for nought. It is an emergency door so best kept closed unless absolutely necessary.

It just occurred to me today, we don’t study any statements spoken directly by Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva. So what is to Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva as the Bhagavad-gītā is to Kṛṣṇa? It’s the activities, statements and especially the prayers made by Prahlāda Mahārāja that are studied in relation to Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva. Of course Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva’s actions speak louder than words. His appearance before Hiraṇyakaśipu is testimony itself to the Lord’s affection for His devotee. And his wrath towards those who persecute His pure devotees. Not only that, the behaviour and character of Prahlāda Mahārāja speaks volumes of the Lord’s character. What is the leader like, if His followers are such wonderful individuals in their own right?

It is interesting to note that in the pastimes of Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva we study the teachings of Prahlāda Mahārāja since in effect their is no specific treatise spoken by the Lord like that of the Bhagavad-gītā spoken by Kṛṣṇa. Why is that do you think?

In the Padyāvalī there is a statement by some devotees: “We shall not care for any outsiders. If they should deride us, we shall still not care for them. We shall simply enjoy the transcendental mellow of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, and thus we shall roll on the ground and dance ecstatically. In this way we shall eternally enjoy transcendental bliss.”
